Hours on Saturday are that they are open until 11pm. They turned away our whole family at 9:54 because they were slow and wanted to close early .... and they had other customers eating in the restaurant. REALLY? What business does that? Not ever getting my business.

Great food and excellent service! This was our first time visiting Dave & Amy's and we were impressed! The server came to our table quickly. Drinks came out quickly. The bread that came with the dinner was pretty amazing and the honey butter was out of this world! The dinners came out just as we ordered and were very filling. With my dinner I had a side salad with cherry vinaigrette - I recommend giving that a try! The server was prompt on refills and checking on us from time to time. We look forward to our next visit here.

I was looking for a restaurant with a salad bar, and after reading Yelp reviews of Dave & Amy's, I decided to try it. Before I even walked in, the aroma of good food greeted me in the parking lot. A server noticed me standing as soon as I walked in, but as her hands were full, she called to me & said she'd be right with me -- which she was. I was handed 3 (!) menus: a wine/beer list, lunch specials and the regular menu. I pretty much knew what I wanted, but I looked over the menus anyhow. They offer a wide variety of foods, but not so many that the menu is overwhelming. There are breakfast items (homemade pancakes, French toast, eggs & omelettes), burgers, steaks, ribs, salads, soups, sandwiches and fish. I decided on the salad bar & a cup of loaded baked potato soup. The soup came while I was getting my salad. It was hot and delicious! I am not usually a soup lover, but this was very good -- chunks of potato in the soup, and it was topped with REAL bacon and cheese. The salad bar is not huge, but it is adequate. It offered lettuce, a fruit cocktail with large chunks of fruit, cottage cheese, as well as the standard choices. I was pleased to see feta cheese; that's an unusual choice for salad bars but one that I like. And, again, REAL bacon, not fake bacon bits. There were also about 9 salad dressing choices. I did find it a little odd that the servers used the salad bar to compose the standard salads that other customers ordered. I think I'd be a little taken aback if I'd paid $9 for a specialty salad and saw that the fixings came from the $6 salad bar. I can understand that the restaurant doesn't want to double up on cut vegetables, but perhaps keeping some in the back would be a good idea. I found the staff to be friendly but rather rushed & slow. I also think that Dave may have walked in & had the booth in front of me; I heard someone call him by name, he didn't need to see a menu, and he didn't stay very long. The server also seemed to treat him with a bit of reverence. This seems to be a placed where people return: there were at least 2 other people with whom the servers seemed particularly familiar -- enough that they knew what the guests wanted to order. I was also impressed at the price of the salad bar. Alone, it's $5.99. With the cup of soup, it was $6.79. I did notice that it was supposed to come with bread, but I didn't get any. (I was interested in the honey butter!) I was going to mention it, but it turned out that I didn't really want it, so I didn't say anything. I will definitely keep Dave & Amy's in mind for the next time I want a salad bar -- and maybe I'll return soon for breakfast!

The food here looks and tastes home-cooked. Going to Dave & Amy's is a little like having a friend who loves to make meatloaf, mashed potatoes, amazing sandwiches, mac and cheese. How about some mac and cheese with pot roast mixed in? The staff is super-helpful. The shirts they wear are so cute I had to take a pic.

7-23-2015 Back again and again. Love this place. Nice people and great food. I love taking friends here to eat. 7-25-2014 My first time. I was there late afternoon before the dinner rush. I ordered the New York Strip med rare, fried apples and broccoli. The steak was just way I ordered and tasted great, the apples were awesome and the broccoli crisp. My waitress was attentive without camping out, earning her the full tip. I will be back. And I will also be back for the last Friday of the month all you can eat fish, the same price as this rest of the month only all-you-can-eat.
Amazing food, great prices, lovely staff. The atmosphere is welcoming and I love it. Would highly recommend this place to others. It's right next to the McDonalds on highland road, so keep an eye out! Whether you go for a snack, dinner, or dessert, EVERYTHING is absolutely delicious!

The first restaurant I have ever walked out on. I have been to culinary school, travelled the country in a van for a year and half and ate out every meal and never walked out. I was extremely disappointed with this place. My two daughters and I walked in and got seated. Figured it would have been good service considering there was only 8 people seated and most got the salad bar. Was told that someone would be right with us. We sat there for a minimum of 15-20 minutes without someone even stopping, even though many waitress passed right by our table. There were 3 waitress behind the bar just BSing and 3 at a table doing some probably rolling silverware and about 6 just randomly walking around. Good luck to the owners.

Went for breakfast with my husband. Excellent service from a very happy waitress. Corned beef and Swiss omelette was super tasty. The meat was cooked in house and nicely chopped, not pulverized. I've had other corned beef omelettes that were more like a hash and mushy -- much prefer Dave and Amy's. I am a fan of shredded potato hash browns, which these were, and cooked nice and crispy. Yum! Husband had the large traditional breakfast. Eggs cooked as ordered, pancakes fluffy, bacon crispy! All of it was served quickly and hot! Oh, the coffee was so freaking good! Apparently it's some liquid coffee concentrate that only a couple other places serve in Oakland county. Who knew?! I've been craving it ever since. We will be going back to try dinner. I've heard they have a killer monte cristo sandwich.

Dave and Amy's has mostly good food. I am a big fan of the salad bar myself, but it is also one of the only places in the area with a salad bar. They also have great breakfasts.

I've eaten here a couple times and each time the service has been worse and worse. Unfriendly waitstaff, tables werent wiped down, and the bathroom looks like a crap bomb went off in it. very underwhelmed with the service here, most likely will not retunr.

Excellent coffee, wheat toast, vegetarian egg white omelet and service. The reason I didn't rate it a 5 is because the broccoli was mainly stems, which made me believe that they use frozen broccoli stems/pieces instead of fresh broccoli florets.

Love Dave & Amy's for long time. Lately...it's been different. Dave you really need to re-evaluate your help and yourself. You've had a great place for family dinners in the past, but the last few experiences had shortcomings. PLEASE Dave, for the sake of good food, good times, take a look in the mirror. This is YOUR place, there's something going on that isn't quite right lately. I've read through the reviews and notice in the last year things are failing. IN the past you've ran a tight ship, with the most friendly waitstaff, now I'm reading that isn't so and I've experienced it. A great place has to start at the TOP. So it's you my freind who needs to be doing the fixing, from the top down. I'd hate to see you LOSE what you've had for so long. By the way, I LOVE LOVE LOVE french onion soup! I always order with light croutons though, too many soaks up the broth too much. I do love your food, but something is going on there, YOU need to fix it or FIX you...Thanks for many great meals. Hope you can overcome this.

Dear Dave and/or Amy, Please hire better staff. Your food is great but I am consistently underwhelmed by your employee's professionalism and service. For example, today marks the third time my carry out order has been wrong or has not been complete. Your hostess today told me there was nothing she could do for me regarding my missing items. Please work on improving the service or I won't be back anymore.

Went there on Sunday morning and this was one of the best breakfasts I've had in a long time. The bacon actually tasted like it was cooked fresh and not cooked in advance sitting in a metal pan. Eggs were cooked just the way I liked them. Despite being so busy that people were standing at the door waiting for a table service was still good.

Horrible service at lunch today. Dirty appetizer plates. Not one time did the server stop in to see how our meal was. Sorry but this was our first and last visit.

The food itself is amazing. A bit on the pricey side, but really good. I had the biscuits and gravy, and my friend got a sandwich. They have a lot of choices for a diner! It's definitely a great place when you're looking to feed a group or a family and everyone wants something different. Their kids menu has more choices than a lot of places too. The service was a little slow, but it was also packed, so I wouldn't choose this place for a quick bite, but it's great for a long lunch or dinner.

My wife has never been impressed with this place. I've always thought it was alright. Not great. But a fine local joint. This past Saturday we stopped by for breakfast. I odered their 'Country Breakfast'.-eggs over easy, well done hash browns, rye toast (and bacon, ham and sausage accompany). The waitress delivered under cooked red skins with apologies (out of hash browns?), over cooked eggs (solid yokes), and rye bread in place of rye toast. Not impressive. The waitress never checked back. The bloody marys were good. Tried to pass this review along to the restaurant through their website but their contact form is broken?

Very good. I have been for breakfast and dinner - I think their breakfast is better. It's a consistent, locally owned, non chain - an a-ok in my book!

Definitely not the best expierence for me. Food was okay but not anything to be excited about. I have yet to go there and find any outstanding staff. EVERY TIME I have been there they have messed up my order or we sit for a while before the wait staff comes our way. One positive is that thier are not huge waits to get a table like other family restaurants.

This place is lovely. I agree with Gary that this is an upgraded diner. I had the loaded bake potato soup. It was delish! The seafood dish that I got was also very good. I'm usually wary of ordering seafood in restaurants but braved it today. It did not disappoint. The dish was not fishy at all. The people that I went with ordered fries for their side. I couldn't stop getting their share even when I'm already full. The fries were incredibly delicious! The fries were homemade and thick-cut. We also ordered wings. The wings were just okay. The servers were nice and tried to accommodate our big group. Try this place, you won't be disappointed!

Decided to try this place yesterday for dinner. Not what I expected. It felt like we were in an old Clock restaurant. My 3 yr old niece had Mac n cheese that in parts was cold and icy in others. I had steak and coconut shrimp. Not impressed at all! The food was not very good at all. I didn't finish my dinner. The waitress never asked how our food was. Probably a good thing she didn't, she would not have liked our answer. This is not a place we will be going back to!

Dave and Amy's had a diner look and feel to it which is pretty nice. The service wasn't that great and as small as the place is we could never see oyr waitress. I would only suggest them for breakfast. I've tried one too many dishes to realize the quality isnt that great. Their wings were cold in the middle, pasta was bland and their burger was OK. The have good fries though I'll give them that.

Fast and friendly service. The food was warm and came quick. I ordered the half rack of baby back ribs and it was. Cooked to perfection and fell off the bone. There were plenty of choices on the menu. The side dishes were excellent. It was a little crowded for a snowy January Saturday afternoon, but that speaks to the popularity of the place. Big portions for a decent price. Be prepared to take a carry out home.

My boyfriend and I have been coming here for breakfast and lunch for years. Food is usually pretty good but the service has steadily declined. I certainly don't enjoy Taylor, the hostess, she is very unpleasant whenever we come and she seats us, that's if anyone acknowledges the door. Such a shame, as a personal friend of Dave, I'm disappointed.

I seem to hit this place every time I come back to the White Lake area. We used to frequent Clancy's (before it was rebranded) and a couple of other breakfast places in the area and it was all ok. Since rebranding, it is MUCH better. They did a great job on the menu. Last time I was there, I got the portobello burger (on Focaccia bread - because the default sometimes gets a little soggy) and salad bar with fried pickles as the appetizer. My little brother will go in there for burgers (which are really good) and get two orders of fries because he likes them so much. It gives you an idea of how they classed the place up a bit though. They also have some comfort food, like the meatloaf sandwich. Basically, there's not really a disappointing thing on the menu. Give it a try!

This is my favorite place to go when i am hung over and need some eggs and coffee to refuel me. They serve breakfast late (3pm?) so i never have to worry about sleeping in. My coffee is always full and the sevice and fast and friendly. There resturant is always clean and doesnt have that coney island restuant look to it that i hate so much. Best place to cure a hang over.

3.5 stars if I could. Got a Groupon for this place and holy crap is the food delicious. The fries are better than the crack fries at Hopcat. Yeah, I went there. Better than the fries were the chips. Good, F'ing, Lord. My girlfriend got them with her sammich and I pretty much ate them all. Chips fresh out of the oil are the best! We also got the fried pickles which were great. Spear form for the win! DFP's need to be in spears otherwise there is just too much breading. My burger was great as well. A lil on the over-cooked side of medium but I dug it. Downside was that my girl ordered the Krabbie Patties(shout out to Spongebob!) The menu had no mention of cheese but they came smothered in it. It's too bad my lady is lactose intolerant so the I guess I will have to eat these as leftovers. Rough life eh? She ordered a second meal and we were good to go from there. The service also left a bit to be desired. The place wasn't busy and our server was really timid and unattentive. We had to flag her down a few times to get services. Would totally be a 4-5 star place if not for these caveats. I hope we have a lot more games at Lakeland Ice Arena to go this year as I would not complain about coming back. Oh yeah, cheap too!

This is an upgraded diner. Great for breakfast and lunch. Pay a little more than the McDonald's next door, and you get a restaurant with a large menu, good food, a friendly atmosphere, with good and attentive service. We typically go here for breakfast on the weekend, when we want a relaxing breakfast, along M-59.

I have ate at Dave and Amy's many times, for breakfast lunch and dinner. The last time I was there, I had the smothered flat iron steak and red skin mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked perfectly, and needed neither steak sauce or salt-and-pepper. From the first to the last bite, the steak was juicy and tender. Another item I often order is the loaded baked potato soup. One word of warning, when ordering the loaded baked potato soup, order two as one is never enough. Not because the sizes are too small, but once you've had the soup, it leaves you wanting more. During my many visits, I have ordered everything from eggs in the morning for breakfast, the Chicken Caesar salad for lunch, and a hamburger/cheeseburger for dinner. The moral of the story is. No matter if I am leaving Dave and Amy's or getting a carry out from Dave and Amys I've never been disappointed with my meal. I do have one suggestion for Dave and Amy's please make your to go container/bowl of the loaded baked potato soup a little bigger.

I have ordered food from Dave and Amys several times during lunch. The food is not outstanding but good for a lunch other than fast food. I do feel they are a bit pricy for the quality of the food. I do love their fried pickles though. And they just started a texting coupon service where you sign up to receive texts from them regarding coupons and specials they are having.

My wife and I tried Dave & Amy's a couple weeks ago and left wholly unimpressed. Wife's burger had a nice presentation but didn't have much taste to it, and the fries were crispy but had a weird taste. Maybe some people like them but to each their own. I had French Onion soup which had no taste, and the salad bar was alright. I did like how they had real bacon, but some of the lettuce was wilted. Bright spot of the meal was we had some potato cuts for an appetizer that were done with chives and bacon and cheese. Those were good. Service was okay, not great. Our drinks did not get refilled, and the waitress could've been a little more chipper. It's ten minutes from our house so would have likely been somewhere we'd frequent if we liked it, but after our experience we won't be back.

Dave & Amy's is just the kind of place we've been looking for around here. The staff shirt says it best, "Friends don't let friends eat at chain restaurants." Thank goodness there are places like Dave & Amy's. We have been here 5 times so far and have always been pleased with our meals. Soups change daily, but if you're lucky enough to go on a hamburger soup day -- order up! You'll want the recipe. The salad bar is always the freshest in town. Everything is kept ice cold which makes me very happy. Feeling Fishy? The seafood stuffed tilapia was very good, and you can't go wrong with the Panko crusted cod. The only critique I have for this little gem is that the service is hit or miss. They have a lot of servers. Half are incredibly friendly and attentive, the other half are not. If you find yourself hungry in White Lake, make your way to Dave & Amy's and fill your belly.

I know, 5 stars for a diner? But it's a really GOOD diner. Friendly, reasonable prices, good homemade food, and a full bar, too! I just wish it was closer to me.

I wouldn't have given this place a low rating but sadly I have to now because I got food poisoning from them today, started about 30 minutes after finishing my meal and as I write this I still feel sick. PLEASE BE WARY OF THIS PLACE. And no, it wasn't from having any undercooked meat, I had the portabella melt. I don't know if it's from poorly prepared food or cross contamination with something touching meat but I've had food poisoning before when I did eat meat which I don't anymore and I recognize the pain and signs of food poisoning.

Nice little family restaurant. Had breakfast here. Great food and unbelievably amazing service. Don't expect a five star dining experience but it's always good to find your local mom and pop with good heart warming food. You must experience this place.
We were patrons of the place when it was originally the family's then branded diner called Clancy's. Yes, the same family that owns the one in Milford. Dave and Amy took it up a notch. First let me say that I like Dave and Amy's. It's small in size, still shaped like the old diner with booths and four-tops with a kicked up cool flare--just with vinyl seats. Gone is the Mel's Diner feel as they ushered in a comfortable feel to the place with decorative lamps and soothing coloring. The lunch and dinner menu has plenty of traditional sandwich and entree selections without being overwhelming in volume. Patrons can expect traditional American menu choices such as sandwiches, burgers, steaks (which are all Angus) as well as ribs and fish. You won't be caught off guard. In visits past, I've enjoyed the meaty and tender St. Louis style ribs but their honey BBQ sauce just doesn't jive with me. It was way too much and tasted like a slightly doctored bottle sauce. Get the ribs but ask for the sauce on the side. Perch dinner is notable but like so many other places, expect to pay upwards of $15 for it. The black and bleu burger was cooked just right and the fries were hot, crisp and golden brown. We've tried the spaghetti but this staple menu item fell short. The portion was generous and the sauce was meaty, but too acidic for my liking. Dave and Amy's is following trends too. My wife opted for the $12 mac'n'cheese which showed promise but I can't seem to enjoy mac'n'cheese that costs more than $1.99 and doesn't comes from a box. The meal comes with a marble rye loaf that comes on the cutting board. Fancy indeed but I'm not a fan of honey butter and dinner roles take up far less real estate on the table which is already at premium here. Unlimited DIY salad bar is available for an extra $2.29. I thought this was a bright spot. The salad bar was clean and well maintained and all items were fresh. Selections are limited but the freshness trumps all here. FYI-they appear to have REAL BACON for the salad: say it with me YYYYYEEESSS! In the end they get you for about $15 a person at dinner. The kid's pizza was a disappointment as my son, a self proclaimed pizzaholic took one bite and politely said "no thank you." Kind says it all right there. There is a full bar should you require a cocktail or beer. I did not. Let's talk logistics. Standard tables have a finite amount of room. While the owners put forth a genuine and fresh effort, I wish for them to examine why they use such big plates. Many places do this and when you add beverages, your plates from the salad bar, the bread plate, sugar and condiments you cannot see the table top and if anyone knocks something over, the whole table pays the price. Thinks less being more here. A crowded table bothers me for some reason. Maybe it's because my mom isn't around and I want to put my elbows on the table. Dave and Amy's makes an honest effort, I'll give them that. I may not return for dinner but these notes aside, where Dave and Amy's really shines, in my opinion, is at breakfast. The food is well prepared, traditional, delicious and the prices are ridiculously affordable for that caliber of meal. The waitress is a fireball and a seasoned pro who takes care of you and never let's you see the bottom of your coffee cup.

We had never been to this restaurant but had bought a Groupon for Dave & Amy's and took some friends there after bowling. We were all pleasantly surprised. The Groupon was $40 for $80 of food and drinks. It came with 2 appetizers, 4 drinks (alcohol included), and 4 meals. We were told that we could order anything from the both the app. and meal menu. We ordered the chicken tenders and potato slabs (potato skins) for our apps and for our meals were ordered 2 pan fried perch dinners, grilled chicken and a spicy chicken pasta. EVERYTHING was awesome and plentiful. As for the drinks, we could order anything we wanted up to a $8 value each. Our total bill came to $106.00 yet they honored the $40 Groupon and we owed nothing but the tip. Our server was very nice and attentive and made us feel welcome until we left 15 minutes before they closed for the night. We will definitely be back to pay full price! What a find!

I have so far only eaten there once but it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I was talking to my friend when the waitress came up about How I wish I could have Coconut Fish instead of Coconut Shrimp as I can't eat shrimp. She immediately suggested that she ask the cook if he would substitute the tilapia for the shrimp which he agreed to do. I was charged for the tilapia dinner and nothing extra for the change in it. The fish was great as was the potato soup I had with it.I will be coming back when in the area.

We sat there for a minimum of 15-20 minutes without someone even stopping, even though many waitress passed right by our table. There were 3 waitress behind the bar just BSing and 3 at a table doing some probably rolling silverware and about 6 just randomly walking around. Good luck to the owners.

Best soup and bread around!!!! Love their baked potato soup. And bread and honey butter, it's great! Service is good and the place is always busy.

(4)Nick C.
I've eaten here a couple times and each time the service has been worse and worse. Unfriendly waitstaff, tables werent wiped down, and the bathroom looks like a crap bomb went off in it. very underwhelmed with the service here, most likely will not retunr.

One of my favorite restaurants, the owner is a very nice guy and personal friend, the food is great, and it's a very nice relaxed dining environment
(5)N W.
Excellent coffee, wheat toast, vegetarian egg white omelet and service. The reason I didn't rate it a 5 is because the broccoli was mainly stems, which made me believe that they use frozen broccoli stems/pieces instead of fresh broccoli florets.
(4)Nyobie Q.
Grilled cheese sandwich is spectacular! Dave and Amy are really great too!! You won't be disappointed.

Great food. I love the loaded potato soup. Their fries and the cuban sandwich are great too.
(5)Mark B.

(1)Cassandra T.

(3)Michael H.
(3)Herschel S.

(2)Rose G.
(2)Aaron B.
Phenomenal. Simply delicious food, and the desserts are great too. Could stand to have a little more room.
(4)Ashley D.
Went on a Saturday morning for breakfast and left happy. Good food, service, and prices!
(4)Yvonne M.
Their breakfast is alright but their wait time is a little ridiculous. Orange juice is cheap and coffee is cheaper. Overall i wouldnt come back unless its the only place that sounds good
(2)Cristobal C.
(3)Ashleigh H.
(2)Justin G.
(5)Hymae W.

(3)Gary A.

(4)Keely W.

I love the breakfast choices :o)

(5)Truemornings N.

(3)Malinda M.
Dave and Amy's is a cozy and eclectic diner among a somewhat boring selection of restaurants in White Lake. They have good, traditional American diner cuisine, with they're own little twist. I was a pretty frequent patron while I lived in the area, and I was not usually disappointed, but I've had spotty service a couple of times, and Dave's meatloaf for the hot meatloaf sandwich left something to be desired. Overall, it's typically a good, warm neighborly experience; my fiancé has even met Dave a few times!

Wow the meal I got was fabulous. All I can say is the portions are huge. A must try is the sampler. More to come later.
(5)Gary S.
Terrific time was had by all. Great and fairly inexpensive food. Drinks available (didn't try). I believe they offer free birthday dinners (price range limited). I agree, beats Highland House in quality and price
(5)Carolyn T.
(5)Laura T.

We usually stop here for dinner, and we both love their salads. Overall there food is pretty good, and so is the service. They have done. Good job. Well worth a try.
